I like the idea of podcasts. I enjoy watching them and how somewhat organized they seem. It's nice seeing what people across the world are up to, but me I'm not camera or mic ready. So how about a blog instead? It seems like a fitting way to start a new year too.
I'm just gonna jump right in like I've been doing this for awhile.
Whatcha doing?
It's so cold outside. I've been taking it easy and hanging out at home. It's cozy and has a lot of my favorite things, my bed, my knitting, my bed, food (sometimes), and all the other crafty things I like to do. A cup of tea and my knitting is all I need in the winter. I've booked a ticket this week to escape the cold weather at the end of February. I'm really looking forward to the warm weather and a new adventure.
WIP It Good
It's a new year, so what do you do? Set aside all the old projects and cast on all the things. So many new knit-a-longs join and so much new yarn to knit.

Pattern: None, Yarn: "Poppin' the Bubbly" by Machette Shoppe |
I love how this yarn is knitting up. Little speckles here and there. The original pattern I was working from was Vanilla Reversed. I knit the heel, tried it on, and then decided it didn't work, frogged the heel and now I'm just knitting a vanilla sock. I'll revisit Vanilla Reversed again later. There are a lot of sock knit-a-longs going on right now. I've seen a few people have already finished a full pair of socks and we're only a week into the new year. Those are some quick knitters.

Pattern: Sunwalker by Melanie Berg, Yarn: Dream in Color Smooshy Grey Tabby, overdyed by me |
Moss stitch, double seed stitch, double moss stitch...all the same stitch. The texture and yarn look so beautiful together. I'm in it for the long haul on this guy.

Pattern: Easy Mittens with Thrums, Yarn: Malabrigo Rios in Natural, overdyed by me |
These mittens are so appropriate right now. All the fluffy goodness. I'm knitting these on 9" circs, I transferred them to 12" circs and that was too wide. I'm not really a fan of magic loop, but I may end having to go that route. I wish they were already finished, there might have to be some monogamous knitting this week.

Pattern: Snowball Fight Reversed by me, Yarn: Malabrigo Rasta in Aniversario |
This hat started out as a cowl, but it was not happy making. And if something isn't happy making, you frog it and start over. No need to keep things that make you unhappy around AND this yarn is too beautiful to not be knit up into something happy. The pebbly texture and color...oh my!
Other Crafty Goodness
Today is the day I start making the holiday cards. The holiday cards I should've sent out a couple of weeks ago. Ha! Last year I waited so long to send holiday cards that I ended up sending Valentine cards. Not this year! This year it's winter holiday cards!
It Lives with Me Now
I did order a skein of yarn this week, but it won't be here until tomorrow according to USPS. That's not how you start a diet. Thankfully I had some credit and free shipping so really I was only a few dollars out of pocket.
Shop Updates
I'm hoping to officially open the shop at the end of the month. I'm waiting to have my logo finished. Then I'll order business cards, yarn bands, and a few other things I'll be needing. I'm also still testing out bases and trying to finalize and test out colors and techniques. I may have decided that you can't have yarn and project bags without progress keepers and I'm waiting on some charms now too. Oops! I'm really looking forward to finalizing things.
